Inspired by the workflow from old Y2k console, I like to focus on the feeling first when recording a band. I created a workflow allowing me to make you more comfortable while working remotely.
In order to give you a better idea of the workflow I though I’d give a list of the thing I like to do to make a session work.
- Before the session we will make a call concerning your project. What do you want to do, EP, or Album, small maxi-single. What kind of thing inspire you. and all the typical questioning.
- I will then probably ask you to prepare a few things in order to help me prepare the session, gear, utilities, rehearsal videos etc…
- The remote session is prepared, mapping, layout, regions has been done using the elements I have asked from you. We can setup SonoBus and start the session.
- We first do the Tone building, making sure we are all ok with the tones of the records. That include Guitar & Bass Amps, Drum shell and cymbal choices and other miscellaneous.
When working remotely I will most likely send you or redirect you to specific plugins you can use during the tracking. Don’t worry they will be free and will not impact the choices we made during Tone building. - We do the tracking then using Sonobus, a software allowing the sharing of audio from one PC to another. I will track you in my home while you are in yours.
The key of this process happen during the point 2. I won’t go into detail, everything will be told during the call. But you won’t have to do much, trust me, and the result will allow me to make a “preprod” and prepare the session in which you will only have to play or sing.
The only issues comes with drums, if worked remotely then they will be in MIDI. If you wish to record real drums, we can rent Studio space, It might be wise to record vocals there too. Just know the cost of the rental will be on your end, along with the cost of my transport, if you decide to make it someplace other than Toulouse.
My set rates for recording/tracking is 200€/days.
It typically require me at least 3 days to make a record.
A non-refundable 30% deposit is required to confirm the dates of the sessions. If you cancel with enough notice that another project can be found to fill those dates, your deposit will be returned pro-rated based on the number of dates filled. It is important to note that deposits are connected to specific dates, not projects – postponing means you will likely lose your deposit.
